The Wet and Wild Scuba Diving Society is offering $1500 scholarships.

To qualify, applicants must:

  1. Have proof of full time attendance at a recognized educational institution (including a university under the University Act, a public college under the Colleges Act, or a technical institute under the Technical Institutes Act).
  2. Be from the Municipality of WoodBuffalo
  3. Be aged 21 or under.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  1. Have interest or skill in scuba diving
  2. Have interest or involvement in offering their scuba diving skills to help their community (eg. Underwater and shoreline beach clean-ups, fish counts, conservation projects, support of newer divers).
  3. And/or are enrolled in a science major. An interest in Marine Biology or Environmental Conservation is helpful, but not required.
  4. Students of all other disciplines are welcome to apply.

Please submit the following with the application:

  1. Confirmation of enrolment from a post-secondary institution indicating the specific field, school or faculty.
  2. A one-page self written letter expressing why you should receive the scholarship from the Wet and Wild Scuba Diving Society. You must sign and date this.
  3. Letters of reference (2) supporting your letter. Letters must be not be from family or buddies. Letters should be from people who can attest to your character, such as people who have taught or coached you, or who you have volunteered or worked for.
  4. Reference letters:
    -must be signed
    -must be dated
    -must have the address, phone number and e-mail address of the reference person
    -must explain their relationship to you, the length of time they’ve known you, and the capacity in which they have observed your character

The selection committee shall use the information solely for the purpose of awarding scholarships and informing you of Society activities. You will receive a free membership, and will be added to our e-mail list.
